Analytic results in 2+1-dimensional Finite Temperature LGT

چکیده
In a 2+1-dimensional pure LGT at finite temperature the critical coupling for the deconfinement transition scales as βc(nt) = Jcnt + a1, where nt is the number of links in the “time-like” direction of the symmetric lattice. We study the effective action for the Polyakov loop obtained by neglecting the space-like plaquettes, and we are able to compute analytically in this context the coefficient a1 for any SU(N) gauge group; the value of Jc is instead obtained from the effective action by means of (improved) mean field techniques. Both coefficients have already been calculated in the large N limit in a previous paper. The results are in very good agreement with the existing Monte Carlo simulations. This fact supports the conjecture that, in the 2+1-dimensional theory, space-like plaquettes have little influence on the dynamics of the Polyakov loops in the deconfined phase.

Finite temperature phase transition , adjoint Polyakov loop and topology in SU ( 2 ) LGT ∗
We investigate the phase structure of pure SU(2) LGT at finite temperature in the mixed fundamental and adjoint representation modified with a Z2 monopole chemical potential. The decoupling of the finite temperature phase transition from unphysical zero temperature bulk phase transitions is analyzed with special emphasis on the continuum limit. The possible relation of the adjoint Polyakov loop...
متن کاملA ug 2 00 9 Report on the Detailed Calculation of the Effective Potential in Spacetimes with S 1 × R d Topology and at Finite Temperature
In this paper we review the calculations that are needed to obtain the bosonic and fermionic effective potential at finite temperature and volume (at one loop). The calculations at finite volume correspond to S 1 × R d topology. These calculations appear in the calculation of the Casimir energy and of the effective potential of extra dimensional theories. In the case of finite volume correction...
متن کاملTransport Coefficients and Analytic Continuation in Dual 1 + 1 Dimensional Models at Finite Temperature
The conductivity of a finite temperature 1+1 dimensional fermion gas described by the massive Thirring model is shown to be related to the retarded propagator of the dual boson sine-Gordon model. Duality provides a natural resummation which resolves infra-red problems, and the boson propagator can be related to the fermion gas at non-zero temperature and chemical potential or density. In additi...
متن کاملCalculation of Thermodynamic Properties of the Quasi-one Dimensional Liquid 3He at Finite Temperature
We have used a variational approach to calculate some thermodynamic properties of the quasi-one dimensional liquid 3He such as the energy, entropy, free energy, equation of state and heat capacity at finite temperature. We have employed the Lennard-Jones potential as the inter-atomic interaction. We have seen that the total energy increases by increasing both temperature and density....
متن کاملExact Effective Action for (1 + 1 Dimensional) Fermions in an Abelian Background at Finite Temperature
In an effort to further understand the structure of effective actions for fermions in an external gauge background at finite temperature, we study the example of 1 + 1 dimensional fermions interacting with an arbitrary Abelian gauge field. We evaluate the effective action exactly at finite temperature. This effective action is non-analytic as is expected at finite temperature. However, contrary...
